Rectangular dining room
Duplicate the room shape with the same dining table shape to maximize seating and for a balanced overall view. A rectangular table or boat-shape dining table with the same proportions as the room itself will create the harmony to the eye and make the most of the space.
Combine dining chairs, benches, and settees, whatever you might like. On the perimeter of the dining room include the storage pieces like cabinets or bookcases. With the cabinets, you have to keep in mind enough space for the doors to open. Frame the dining space with the rectangular rug that contrasts with the flooring and the general interior palette.
Oversized space
If the space is huge enough to build a football field, don’t hurry to buy the dining table for the whole football team, if you need only one for 4 or 6 persons. You have a wonderful option to build one or two conversation zones or a coffee nook with the accent chairs and coffee and cocktail tables and floor lamps.
You might find functional to have chairs that can easily be brought up to the table for extra dining seating. Add curio or buffet at one wall, as the good focal point.
Shapes and personal touch
All too similar chairs work good for conventionalists. For more fun and cosy atmosphere try to vary the dining chairs in shape, material and scale. Try it by mixing chairs with and without arms or chairs with high and low backs.
If you prefer no-corner tables, apply another shape. Circular or round tables are suitable for tight dining spaces or square rooms. Oval tables work well in rectangular dining rooms. No-corner tables promote easy-flow conversations, so don’t hesitate to add some warmth and openness to the dining space.
